宣友海，男，1962年生于中国安徽省老徽州，祖籍安庆怀宁，毕业于南京政治学院。现为国家高级美术师、国家一级书法师。中华人民共和国国宾礼特供艺术家、聘任为中国国际文化交流中心名誉主席、联合国教科文组织艺术顾问、中国国际文学艺术家协会常务理事、香港中国书法家协会理事、中国楹联学会书法研究会会员、《中国报道》特聘艺术家特约通讯员、中名联名家艺术签约书画家、北京墨韵文化艺术院副院长等。

2015年作品庆祝联合国成立70周年美国纽约书画展。2015年举办“中国梦·行走祖国-当代国画名家宣友海山水画展”同年8月25日人民日报海外版欧洲专题报道，题为《让爱化作笔端的美·当代著名国画家宣友海山水画展在安徽黄山市展出》。

2021年6月由中外文化艺术交流协会、法国大皇宫国家美术馆、联合国教教科文组织、首届国际文艺金鹰奖评委会联合评审。宣友海阁下荣获“首届国际文艺金鹰”授予“世界当代杰出文艺领袖”、“世界文化艺术交流大使”荣誉称号，同时入选《世界名人堂》终身成就会员世界最高荣誉，由法国大皇宫国家美术馆收藏其个人的作品推送世界最大艺术博览会–巴黎国际当代艺术博览会（FIAC)进行巡展。代表作品被国内外艺术机构和大使馆收藏。

2021年8月鉴于宣友海先生在文艺界创作出一幅幅享誉世界的传世佳作，对于推动世界文明交流互鉴，人类文化大繁荣大发展作了突出贡献。由中国艺术外交协会、联合国教科文组织、联合国文化艺术研究中心、联合国人类文化贡献奖评委会，联合举办了“联合国人类文化贡献奖”的评选活动。经评委会层层筛选，最终遴选出宣友海与韩美林、莫言、范曾等20位文艺家获得“联合国人类文化贡献奖”，授予“联合国和平艺术家”荣誉称号，并聘任为联合国教科文组织艺术顾问。
